In the fall of 1985, at California State University, Chico a group of Latina women like many others searched for the one thing that would make their college experience a memorable one. During their search they struggled to find an organization that was willing to look past the color of their skin, background, etc. It was then that in March 11, 1986 Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. was founded at California State University, Chico with its three pillars of Academic Excellence, Community Service, and Sisterhood. In spite of all those that believed that the organization founded by the 18 beautiful intelligent women would not last, after 24 years we are still standing strong proud, beautiful, intelligent and true to our beliefs.

chapter history
In the Fall of 1996, a group of strong and determined Latina women came together in search of an organization to supplement their lives as women in higher education. At the end of this search they came upon Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc., the first and most prestigious Latina-based sorority established on the west coast. After some time and dedication they brought to UCLA what would become the first Latina-based organization on campus. Fourteen years later, the Iota chapter of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. remains strong, upholding the values of our organization with pride. The chapter opens the doors to women in higher education, through various campus activities and community services, some of with include our Latina Youth Leadership Conference. LYLC provides young women with resources that aim at opening the door of opportunity and success.
